Who are my ancestors? What is my lineage?

• Do you sense a lineage in your family that no ones speaks of? Perhaps no one knows?

Lineage is a powerful word, one that is sacred to many peoples. Knowing and honoring our lineage can fill us with pride, a sense of belonging, tradition and a deep knowing of our life purpose. It can be a source of wisdom, guidance, healing and joy.

You might be of the lineage of storyteller... musician... priestess... healer... panther... wise woman... warrior... magician... eagle... clown... wanderer... holy fool... teacher... hawk... shaman... bear... medicine woman ...

There are two kinds of lineage. The lineage of blood and the lineage of spirit. The ancestors whose guidance speaks to us in our sleeping and waking dreams may or may not have anything to do with our blood line

I give you an example from my own life. I can trace my being a writer and storyteller directly to my father, who was also a writer and story teller. But who came before him? From what unknown women and men in my family does my passion for writing and storytelling flow? What does belonging to the lineage of storyteller conjure up for me?

But there is more, for I am more than storyteller. There is something profound about the journey of women that calls to me. I believe I am part of a long line of teachers, healers and wisdom seekers, whether or not they are "related" to me.

I wonder...

• who are the women who challenged convention and dared to speak their truths?
• who are the women poets, the writers, the dancers and those who struggled mightily to walk the path of spirit?
• who are the women who found sisterhood in community?
• who are the women who journeyed between the veils that separate the seen and unseen worlds?

I believe such women are there.

What lineage calls to you, perhaps only in your dreams? What do you feel most passionate about? What lineage do you claim as your own? What lineage is calling out to be claimed?

Such is the challenge and the excitement of this workshop: Ancestral Memories, Ancestral Dreams: Claiming the Lineage of the Soul. Through meditation, shamanic journeying, storytelling and finally through the creating of individual collages, we will source our lineage.
