Writing, Creativity and Ritual, a retreat for women in Glastonbury, England, home of Avalon and King Arthur Legend. July 25-August 4, 2011. We stay in a 18th century Abbey House overlooking the famous Glastonbury Ruins.

The retreat returns to Glastonbury for the fifth time in the summer of 2011! Once again, we stay in the 18th century Abbey House that is on the grounds of the historic Abbey Ruins. Only steps from the Abbey House Retreat Center is the green, labyrinthine hill called the Tor, whose hidden core was said to be used by ancient Druids in sacred ceremonies. Another legend holds that Joseph of Arimathea journeyed to Glastonbury with the Holy Grail and buried the chalice at the foot of the Tor. Immediately, a stream of blood burst forth. That stream became the waters of the Chalice Well, a serenely magical site whose feminine waters are said to have healing properties.

Glastonbury and its sacred landscape are an ideal setting for our retreat. Here we will open doorways to new writing, a deeper creativity and the feeling of pilgrimage that is evoked by every journey to this place so steeped in mystery. The air, soft and fragrant in summer, is full with the promise of another time. Take a walk and you might sense Avalon calling. Or Arthur’s court. Or the violence Henry VIII visited on the once great Glastonbury Abbey, or perhaps an ancient Druid, the Green Man, the wisdom of Trees or a humble milkmaid's tale...
