In addition to my own home on Sol's Cliff, I have rented Eagle Cliff, a beautiful, historic oceanfront estate just one road over. One of the original rusticator “cottages” built before the turn of the century, guests at Eagle Cliff are surrounded by antiques, oriental rugs and breathtaking views that look over Frenchman's Bay and the Porcupine Islands.
A stone porch overlooks the ocean with outdoor seating and a gas grill — the perfect place to spend an afternoon reading, writing, enjoying the ocean breezed or eating some yummy Maine food!
Eagle Cliff is at the end of a small private road through Acadia National Park, and only only one mile from Bar Harbor, where you can access a free shuttle bus that travels around greater Mount Desert Island and through Acadia National Park. The main auto entrance to Acadia National Park is only two miles away where you can drive or bike the famous Park Loop Rd and all its attractions.

Along the Park Loop Road
The Park’s newest trail, built in 2008, allows one to literally walk from the house into the 130-mile network of hiking trails. You can also easily bike to the 45 miles of Carriage Roads or simply stroll into town for an ice cream cone. Compass Cove, a little known parcel of Acadia National Park, is just a 5 min walk to a secluded and well-protected sand beach and tide pools. This area is a wonderful place to explore with kids, or have a quiet sun-drenched beach all to your self.
We will be using Eagle Cliff as additional housing if my house is completed, and if my house in not completed, we will all stay at Eagle Cliff and its adjoining cottage. If my house is complete, there will be room for up to 15 women. If my house is not complete, the retreat will be limited to 9 women.
Directions:
Driving to Bar Harbor: Bar Harbor is easily accessible by car. From Boston (268 miles) - follow Interstate 95 through to Bangor (exit 45-A - 395), then pick-up on Rt.1A to Ellsworth, and follow Rt.3 to Bar Harbor. Another route is I-95 to Augusta, take Route 3 to Belfast over to Route 1 to Ellsworth, then back to Route 3 into Bar Harbor. The scenic route is along rte 1, which you pick up at Freeport, (home of LL Bean) and then drive through many small towns along the coast. Bar Harbor is about 11 hours drive from NYC and about six from Boston.
Directions to Eagle Cliff and the retreat will be sent closer to the time of the retreat. Eagle Cliff is only a mile outside of the town of Bar Harbor.
By Air: Fly into Bangor International Airport. Also at the Hancock County-Bar Harbor Airport. The Bar Harbor airport, hoever, is very small, service is spotty and expensive. Better choice is Bangor. In Bangor, you would rent a car. Bangor is about an hour's drive to Bar Harbor and Eagle Cliff. Directions to Eagle Cliff and the retreat will be sent closer to the time of the retreat. Eagle Cliff is only a mile outside of the town of Bar Harbor.
